These resources have been created with pupils in Years 3-4 in mind, but please use them in whatever way works best for you.  For each story, you will also find a discussion sheet and activity ideas to explore the themes further across the curriculum.

Alongside prompting discussion around environmental topics, it is also hoped that these resources will

  • Encourage our pupils to be change makers and instil a sense of agency, equipping them to feel  we can all make a difference.
  • Make links between sustainability and wellbeing and encourage a reconnection with nature.
  • Offer practical ways of making a difference at home, school and in our local communities
  • Promote awareness and discussion on how environmental issues make us feel and equip pupils with the language to express their views on this topic
  • Expose pupils to different genres of fiction, especially those written by, or narrating the stories of, under-represented groups.
